Drawing has been a form of expression since time immemorial. It is a big umbrella under which there are numerous types of drawings, methods of drawings and much more. Let us dive a little deeper into the concept of drawing.

What is drawing what are the different methods of drawing?

Drawing can be defined as an expression of objects, concepts, various emotions and fantasies that include symbols, use of figures, or even forms of abstract art. All of it done of a two dimensional backdrop.

It is more like a form of art that has a graphic expression. A drawing can be characterized by the importance on shape of a particular image than as much on its mass or color combination. It is not like painting where the importance is on the colors, color schemes etc. It also forms the basis of almost all other forms of art including painting, tapestry, mosaic, etc. As they all begin only after a drawing is made.

The different methods of Drawing:

This can include a huge number of tools and implements beginning from a sheet of blank paper to pencils, to brushes, paint brushes and much more. Let check the various methods which have been used over time:

Charcoal: This partly consumed part of wood has been used to draw since ages ago. A charcoal drawing is characterized by its graphite black strokes in different shades that add depth to the image.

Chalks: These have also been used since ages. Its relevance is that it gives an excellent form of drawing which can be erased or corrected if needed.

Pastel crayon: These have been used more as a tool for portraits. They are an excellent non-oily method of getting beautiful images.

Lead Pencils: This obviously has been one of the commonest things to be used for drawings. Used since ages, a pencil drawing has many advantages. Firstly the point of the pencil can be sharpened to get sharper strokes, one can also get beautiful different shades of grey with a pencil and the same can also be corrected if needed.

There are various other tools used to make drawings including metal points, felt pens etc. With modern technology one is now also able to create drawings graphically.
